How to Support Your Partner

You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be present.

  • Tell her how grateful you are for all she just went through, and how proud you are of her.
  • Tell her you see how much she’s giving, even when she feels like she’s falling apart. She needs to hear it and believe it’s seen because this season is isolating.
  • Handle a middle-of-the-night feed if you can. She’s beyond exhausted.
  • Don’t take anything personally. She’s healing and hanging by a thread.
  • Do the dishes. Without being asked.
  • Don’t ask her questions she has to Google. Just Google them.
  • Track the baby stuff: bottles, naps, doctor’s appointments. She can’t hold it all.
  • Be the one who says “no visitors today.”
  • Watch for signs of PPD and PPA. Learn more
  • Don’t ask when you can have sex again. She’ll tell you. Eventually.
  • Tell her she’s doing a good job. Say it often - especially when she looks unsure, especially when she’s in tears, especially when no one else is saying it. She may not believe it yet, but your voice matters more than you think.
  • Take care of your own mental health, too. This is big for you, too.

This season is temporary, but how you show up now? That part stays with her forever.


Postpartum is a season of both intensity and in-betweens. It can be beautiful and brutal, joyful and deeply overwhelming, sometimes all before noon. We know how much you’re holding, and we built this page with you in mind.

You’re allowed to love it and still find it hard. You’re allowed to grieve who you were and celebrate who you’re becoming. You’re allowed to ask for help. To fall apart. To start over, as many times as you need.

This chapter asks a lot of you. Physically, emotionally, relationally. And you shouldn’t have to navigate it alone. 

We’ll keep adding to this page with care, always thinking about the real lives, tender moments, and full hearts behind every search for support.
